I’m a tennis player/fan (played in college) and it’s actually even messier than you think. They don’t claim that Sinner’s physio sprayed him; they claim the physio had a cut on his thumb, used this spray that contains a steroid that you can only get over the counter in Italy, and then massaged Sinner with his cut open, steroid sprayed finger over Sinner’s psoriasis???? And that they brought that spray conveniently from Italy to California, where the doping took place. Sinner was allowed to do media and travel to another big tournament while under an unpublished suspension and the appeal was accepted right as the tournament began. Other players wait months or years in suspension, rather than days, and often publicly.

Simona Halep had her four year suspension overturned by CAS, with them saying it was likely her supplement was contaminated. She was out for over a year with all of this very public and getting lots of hate from media, players, and fans. Halep has 2 slams, 64 weeks as world no 1, and was a huge fan favorite. She wasn’t at the top of her game at the time and she’s Romanian so…take that for what you will. I am not sure if the WTA is more strict than the men’s tour, but the men’s tour also protects Alexander Zverev. That’s a rabbit hole too.

Something needs to be done about his legs. I have no idea what, but they make his matches nearly unwatchable.
